let’s all chant “2-1”!
frankly speaking, i got a shock of my life when rafael (a 19yr old brazillian lad) pulled one goal back at the start of stoppage time. it was 2-1 then.
and some must have sensed a deja vu when arsenal lost a 4-2 lead against spurs, conceding a goal in the 89 min and an equaliser at the very very last second of action.
but the already-shaking-vigorously defence of arsenal held it as tightly they could and ended the match 2-1.
NOT TO FORGET THE HERO OF THE NIGHT!
he’s the new arrival SAMIR NASRI! after missing a nearly the entire september (perhaps due to his muslim fasting month), hit 2 goals in 2 separate halfs to record his 3rd & 4th goal of season in the league.
his pace, accuracy and level of deadliness was simply breathtaking. every break he made seemed to be turning into goals. 2 goals out of 2 shots, think abt tt. 100% accuracy, tt’s really scary man.
credit to our fulcrum ouf the day, ABOU DIABY! playing as a supporting forwrd behind niklas bendtner (whose passing has incredibly improved, considering his horrendous throughout this season so far), he was constantly leaping frm end to end of the pitch, chasing every ball as if he was a cheetah preying a goat on the gaunt land of africa.he played a key role in maintaining the balance in attack and defence.
not to forget, the owner of the safe hands, MANUEL ALMUNIA! strings of vital saves kept the man utd attack out for 75 minutes, before he was taken off after being kicked in the face by michael carrick (the player who rejected arsenal in 2002).
one the player who was a cause of concern was obviously theo walcott. scanty of his usual bolt-comparable pace, his lack of focus was visible. confusing passes to his teammates, i knew he would be taken off very soon. he did, being replaced by alex song – brought in to keep the 2-0 lead secured. walcott was apparently lacking match fitness, rest well for aston villa faceoff.
another was undoubtedly cesc fabregas. probably missing his midfield partner mathieu flamini (who left for ac milan after feeling unappreciated in arsenal, and has hardly played a match for milan – weird, isn’t it) who used to the donkey jobs for him last season, his passing was so far off in standard as compared to his usual precise + lethal passes. though he did assist nasri in his 2nd goal in the passing fiesta.
